The museum attracts a large number of visitors and is well supported by local authorities. The Kamchatka Regional Art Museum is one of the youngest in the Russian Far East. It was founded on January 5, 1992. The museum's activities include the collection and study of fine art objects, regular exhibitions, and educational work among the local population. Today the museum's collection includes more than 3,000 works of painting, graphics, sculpture, decorative and applied and folk art, artistic photography, and children's art.
