Bezhta Historical and Local History Museum

About museum

The A. Taho-Godi Museum in Dagestan offers visitors an opportunity to learn about an ethnographic collection that reveals the history, culture and daily life of the residents of the village of Bezhta. The exhibition features items from a traditional mountain household: furniture, tableware, tools, clothing and footwear, jewelry, and bladed weapons. Special attention is drawn to the famous 'Bezhta boots', which are still worn on special occasions and which used to be everyday footwear for children and adults. The museum's holdings contain more than 800 exhibits, as well as information about notable natives of the village of Bezhta—athletes, cultural workers, scholars and veterans of World War II. The museum was opened in 2010.
