Historical and Memorial Complex 'Baikal Crossing'
About museum
On the shore of Lake Baikal there is a historical and memorial complex dedicated to the Baikal ferry railway crossing. This state project of the early 20th century linked the Trans-Siberian Railway and gave our country the ability to defend its gains in Eastern Siberia and the Far East. In 2016 the Baikal Nature Reserve proposed the idea of creating a historical and memorial complex, and on the territory of the historic port of Tankhoy military railcars were installed, the station house was reconstructed, an exhibition was created and a documentary film was released. The project includes a site-museum where visitors can learn about the history of the crossing, as well as a model of the Tankhoy port, documents and artifacts. This is how the memory of the grand Baikal Crossing project and its outstanding role in national history was restored.
