Kalinin Historical and Local Lore Museum
About museum
On November 4, 1980, the Kalinin Historical and Local Lore Museum was opened; since 1990 it has been a branch of the Saratov Regional Museum of Local Lore. The museum houses more than six thousand items: archaeological and numismatic objects, paintings, documents and rare books. The exhibition presents visitors with the history of the Kalinin region from ancient times to the present day, and also features collections about famous natives of Kalinin, such as the writer M. N. Alekseev, metallurgist and academician I. P. Bardin, sculptor D. F. Tsaplin, and performer of Russian folk songs and People's Artist of the RSFSR Olga Kovaleva.
