Kalachevsky Local History Museum
About museum
On November 26, 1963, a general meeting of Red Guards and Red partisans was held to establish a people's museum. In February 1968, the bureau of the Kalachevsky District Committee of the CPSU considered the issue of a local history museum, which was opened on November 22, 1972 in the building of the former merchant S. I. Kravchenko. The museum features over 10,000 items in its holdings, including unique natural and historical monuments of the region. In 1974 it became a branch of the Volgograd Regional Local History Museum. The museum also runs the 'Zemlya Kalachevskaya' ('Kalachev Land') program, which includes excursions, lectures, celebrations, museum lessons and local history conferences.
