Aramashevo Local History Museum
About museum
The Aramashevo local history museum is located away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It reveals to its visitors the charm of old Russia and rural life. The museum was founded in 1962 by a schoolteacher and local resident, Ivan Semenovich Kesarev. At that time he was supported by colleagues, parents and pupils. Since 2003 the museum has been municipal and is housed in the brick house of merchant Zagaynov (late 19th – early 20th century). Today it has become the village's leisure center and guardian of memory. The exhibitions present the chronicle of the village of Aramashevo, the history of peasant life and crafts, village merchant life, and also describe local sights. Traditional folk crafts are revived here — painting wooden items, making protective amulet dolls, felting souvenir valenki (felt boots). Interactive tours invite visitors to try different activities, reveal their creative potential and awaken the Russian spirit within. Today the museum holds more than 3,000 exhibits. They are displayed in the exhibitions “Merchant's Shop”, “Hall of Memory and Glory”, “Parlor”, and “School Education Hall”. The museum offers a wide range of services: interactive tours, workshops, themed events, museum classes, folk calendar celebrations, and historical excursions around the village of Aramashevo.
