State Tretyakov Gallery has opened a new building — a wing on Kadashevskaya Embankment. The new wing of the Tretyakov Gallery houses modern exhibition and display spaces totaling more than 35,000 sq. m., restoration workshops for painting, graphic arts, and sculpture, as well as a scientific photographic archive. The open atrium of the new building, which can be entered from the embankment side, is a multifunctional public space accessible to visitors.

As part of the museum complex there are exhibition halls on the 1st and 3rd floors with a total area of 3,560 sq. m., with the possibility of dividing the space into halls with independent entrances to hold several exhibitions simultaneously; two vernissage halls with a total area of about 1,000 sq. m.; a multifunctional conference hall with 512 seats for scientific conferences, concerts, film screenings, and other cultural events; and a press center for 62 people for press conferences and round-table discussions.

The complex includes a souvenir and printed-materials shop, ticket offices, a tour desk, and dining areas. Cloakrooms and restrooms for visitors are located on the underground floor. The building's architectural design is of particular interest. Reproductions of 34 works by Russian artists that are included in the UNESCO World Heritage protection zone are displayed on the facades of the new Tretyakov Gallery building.
