The unique collections of the Art Museum have always attracted visitors' attention. Russian painting of the late 18th to early 20th centuries was assembled in the 1920s–1930s thanks to acquisitions from the State Museum Fund and museums in Moscow and St. Petersburg. The museum especially treasures monuments of Orthodox art. The museum's collection of icon painting is known far beyond Russia. The exhibition "Russian Orthodox Art of the 14th–19th centuries" features icons, liturgical embroidery, handwritten and antique books, cast metalwork, and enamels. You can also see works by famous Russian artists, furniture, art porcelain, glass, and bronze from the renowned collection of S. S. Abamelek‑Lazarev. The museum's collection includes other historical exhibits from the past century. The Art Museum presents fine works of art that always draw visitors' interest.
