Chanovsky Local History Museum
About museum
\r\nIn February 1987, at the initiative of the Chany District Committee of the CPSU, a meeting was held with World War II veterans and labor veterans to organize a museum in the urban-type settlement of Chany. After the ceremonial opening on November 7, 1987, the museum was located in a merchant's building. Time showed that the premises for the museum were too small, and the head of Chany District provided another building, in which the exhibition hall area doubled. A major renovation was carried out using modern materials. The museum became a center of methodological assistance for leaders of school museums, students and pupils, and is visited by no fewer than 3,000 people a year. Museum staff engage young people not only with exhibitions but also with various activities, meetings with interesting people, and celebrations. For older visitors, musical evenings and club meetings are held. The museum's exhibition activity is an active form of participation in contemporary life. Exhibitions are organized from the museum's collections and from private collections of district residents.
