Provincial Judicial Office
About museum
In the 18th century, two small stone buildings were erected along the brow of the Pryamsky Vzvoz — a guardhouse and a pharmacy. In 1788 all the buildings were severely damaged by fire. In the 1820s the St. Petersburg architect David Visconti developed a plan to restore the buildings. The governor's palace was converted into premises for the provincial administrative offices, and on the site of the pharmacy and guardhouse a service wing with the provincial judicial chamber was built. Today these buildings are used as an exhibition hall of the Tobolsk Museum-Reserve. The "United Spirit of Victory" project is presented here; it tells of the feats of Siberians on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War, and also gives visitors the opportunity to try on a soldier's uniform and take photos in a real field tent. Patriotic lessons for schoolchildren and students are also held here, as well as screenings of historical films.
