A. V. Grigoryev Art and History Museum
About museum
This picture gallery began with the Volga–Kama travelling exhibition in 1918. It included works by Kazan artists and paintings from the private collections of Kazan residents. The idea was remarkable — to bring art closer to the people.
The museum has a permanent exhibition rightly called the 'Small Tretyakov on the Volga.' It features works by artists of various movements, allowing visitors to trace the stages of development of fine art beginning in the first half of the 19th century. The collection includes paintings by great Russian artists such as Aivazovsky, Polenov, the Korovin brothers, Klever, Sudkovsky, Tvorozhnikov and others.
There is also an exhibition dedicated to the history of the city.
The museum's collection includes porcelain pieces by Russian, Western European and Eastern masters.
Guided tours are conducted for groups of ten or more. Advance booking is required.
