About museum

In 1981 a Museum of Komsomol Glory was opened in Darovskoy on a voluntary basis. Mikhail Georgievich Osipov actively collected exhibits and arranged the first exhibition hall in the assembly hall of the RONO building. In 2002 the museum was granted legal entity status, and in 2015 it moved into a building that is an architectural monument of the Kirov Region. The museum houses a vast collection of materials on the district's history, the Great Patriotic War, enterprises, organizations, the native region's nature and the famous people of Darovskoy. The zoological collection is particularly popular, containing 263 species of birds and 29 species of animals, comparable to the exhibition material of the country's leading zoological museums. Currently the museum is visited by up to 7,000 people a year. It has become for many a source of knowledge about the cultural heritage and history of the region.
