Center for Contemporary Culture

About museum

The Center for Contemporary Culture of the Ural Federal University is a structural subdivision of the Faculty of Art History and Cultural Studies and serves as the scientific and practical base for the faculty's educational process. The center opened in May 2001 with the poster exhibition "I Don't Want to Hate." The exhibition hall hosts exhibitions by professional artists, photographers, designers, and faculty members. The exhibition spaces for contemporary culture serve as venues for meetings with artists, master classes, seminars and lectures, musical concerts, and theatrical productions. The Center for Contemporary Culture is a regular participant in the "Night of Museums" event.

Among the largest exhibition projects in recent years were the exhibition "Like a Phoenix from the Ashes. Destruction and Reconstruction of Warsaw 1939–1945" (2017), the "Night of Museums" project "DNA of Culture" — winner of the city competition for the best museum project of the year, and the exhibition by Japanese photographer Kumiko Wakabayashi "Vanitas. A Beautiful but Mortal Life" (2019).
