Myt Local History Museum
About museum
\r\nThe Local History Museum in the village of Myt, Verkhnelandekhovsky District, Ivanovo Oblast, is a true cultural center that was established in 1956 by N. M. Romanov on the basis of the Myt secondary school. In 1958 the museum was granted the honorary title of "People's Museum." Until the 1970s it was housed in the building of the former teahouse of B. F. Lokteva, and later became part of the Ivanovo United Historical-Revolutionary Museum while remaining independent. Currently, the museum's collections include more than six thousand items, among them peasant household goods, folk crafts and trades, photographs, documents, numismatic items, books, and archaeological remains that shed light on the history of the area. All of this is housed in an old building constructed in 1912, which is an architectural monument. In addition, the museum's directors for many years included L. S. Zhukova, G. N. Shikina, N. A. Tarasov, and E. S. Lokteva.
