Prikaznaya Chamber
About museum
The Prikaznaya Chamber is the only administrative building in Pskov to have survived to the present day. It was built to a design by the voivode P. M. Apraksin for Ioann and Peter Alekseyevich during the period 1692–1695. It has three floors and includes several rooms: the central senn (entry hall), the chest room and the kolodnichya. On the second floor are the voivode's chamber and the clerks' chamber. In the voivode's chamber furniture, window and wall coverings, a stove and icons have been restored. The clerks' chamber houses the prikaz chancellery. In 1994 a museum was opened in the Prikaznaya Chamber with several exhibitions, including 'Prikaznaya Chamber — the center of administrative government of the Pskov land at the end of the 17th — the beginning of the 18th century', 'Afanasy Lavrentyevich Ordin-Nashchokin — Pskov voivode and statesman of Russia' and 'Lord Pskov'. Today the building is a genuine museum reflecting the history of Pskov.
