About museum
Usman Local History Museum named after B. P. Knyazhinsky is the oldest local history museum in the Lipetsk Region, founded in 1903 at the city library under the direction of Fyodor Vasilievich Ogarkov. In 1920 it was reorganized as a local history museum. It is located in a two-story merchant's mansion built in the early 19th century and houses more than 12,000 exhibits. The museum features five permanent exhibitions and three exhibition halls, presenting in detail the development of the Usman region from the construction of the Usman fortress to the present day. The museum also offers 11 themed guided tours, bus and walking tours around the city of Usman, including a visit to a monument of federal significance — the earthen rampart of the Belgorod defensive line, which is well preserved. The museum is a wonderful place to get acquainted with the history and culture of the Usman region.
