The Balezinsky District History and Local Lore Museum is the organizational-methodological center for local history work in the district. It houses permanent exhibitions dedicated to ethnography, Soviet everyday life, and the history of Balezinsky District. In addition, the museum conducts research in the following areas: the history of Balezinsky District and the settlement of Balezino; the military and labor glory of fellow countrymen; outstanding figures of the district; the history of Soviet provincial everyday life; the ethnography of the Verkhochepets group of northern Udmurts, Russians (including Old Believers), as well as Chepets Tatars and Besermyans. The museum's collection comprises more than 15,000 exhibits, including ancient archaeological items from the 9th–14th centuries CE, fragments of extinct animals, and petrified wood whose age can reach up to 1.5 million years. The museum is known not only in Udmurtia but far beyond: it has been visited by residents of 44 regions of the country and guests from the USA, Canada, the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Finland, Sweden, Estonia, Turkey, India, and China.
