Baltic Branch of the State Center for Contemporary Art
About museum
The Baltic Branch of the State Center for Contemporary Art in Russia was founded on November 27, 1997, and is the only organization in the Kaliningrad Region that provides space for contemporary art. Its purpose is to popularize and support contemporary art in Russia through the implementation of programs and exhibition projects, as well as through research, scientific-information, educational, publishing, and collection activities. The branch pays attention to the unique strategies of artists and curators, promotes them, and gives the audience the opportunity to navigate contemporary art. Currently, with financial support from the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the tower and mansard (attic) premises of the Kronprinz barracks are being reconstructed and restored to create a state museum of contemporary art.
