The museum presents archaeological materials, Old Russian history, the history of 18th-century Russia, the history of Azov, art, architecture, and archaeological and paleontological monuments. At the Azov Museum-Reserve you can learn about the history of ancient Azov, the nature of southern Russia, and a rich cultural and historical heritage collection. In the very heart of ancient Azov is the Azov Historical, Archaeological and Paleontological Museum-Reserve, one of the largest museums in southern Russia. Across an area of more than 78,000 square meters there are over 320,000 exhibits, including the oldest items up to 250 million years old. Here you can see the Alekseevsky Gates, the Powder Cellar, the museum of the famous polar explorer Rudolf Samoilovich, the 'Mecenat' exhibition hall, and other monuments.
