The museum exhibits archaeological materials, Old Rus' history, Russian history of the 18th century, the history of Azov, art, architecture, and archaeological and paleontological monuments. At the Azov Museum-Reserve visitors can learn about the history of ancient Azov, the nature of southern Russia, and a rich collection of cultural and historical heritage. Located in the heart of ancient Azov, the Azov Historical, Archaeological and Paleontological Museum-Reserve is one of the largest museums in southern Russia. On an area of more than 78,000 square meters there are over 320,000 exhibits, including very ancient specimens up to 250 million years old. Here you can see the Alekseyev Gates, the Powder Cellar, the museum of the famous polar explorer Rudolf Samoylovich, the "Mecenat" exhibition hall and other monuments.
