Within the historic walls of the Penza Literary Museum, on the eve of Victory Day, songs and poems were performed by the City Veterans' Choir named after Nikolai Kotlyar of the Penza Center for Russian Choral and Vocal Culture.
The literary and musical program 'There Was Spring – There Was Victory' included a wide variety of wartime songs: 'Hymn of Russia's Invincibility', 'Because We Are Pilots', 'Bring Back the Music', 'Dark Night' and many others – both sad and cheerful. The audience was won over by the high professionalism of the choir members, who perform under the direction of Vera Kapiturova. The concert brought both smiles and tears to the guests. The song 'Officers' was met with a standing ovation, and its long-familiar words moved many to tears.
'We must know our history, remember the feat of our grandfathers and great-grandfathers who defended the Motherland so that we can live under a peaceful sky. It is important to pass on this love and respect for the heroes of the Great Patriotic War to the younger generation. Perhaps the easiest way to do this is through songs and poems – they live in our hearts and are heard every year on Victory Day,' shared Natalya Poleva, General Director of the Literary Association.
Throughout the entire event, the members of the N.A. Kotlyar Choir received thunderous ovations, cries of 'Bravo!' and, of course, all the guests happily sang along to the well-known pieces.
