Night of the Arts — "Time Spins Time Backwards"

Wonderful encounters, bright discoveries and a fascinating world of creativity await all of cultural Russia in just two weeks!

On November 3 the whole country will take part in the "NIGHT OF THE ARTS" event, which will be held under the slogan "Russia Unites".

As customary, we invite you to Borodino Field for the festive program "Waltzes Spin Time Backwards".

You can expect: an author-led tour of the exhibition "Borodino Field. Milestones of History" — "Love and the Edge of Sabres. The Charm of the Imperial Palace".

As part of the event guests will hear a performance by a military orchestra, and to conclude the evening we invite everyone to a historical ball.

At the beginning of the 20th century the tradition of the so-called white balls formed, when cavaliers dressed in military uniforms of the 1812 era, and young ladies were clad in white dresses. Ballroom traditions attract more and more attention each year; the number of balls and their participants is growing. People seek to learn more about the culture that was especially popular in the 18th–19th centuries.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn the dance movements of 19th-century dances.
The ball's host is Sergey Sosnitsky, artistic director of the historical dance workshop "Entrée".

Guests of the ball are asked to observe a dress code. Ladies may wear long dresses and shoes suitable for dancing. Gentlemen should wear formal suits, shirts and shoes. Guests in ceremonial costumes of the 19th century are welcomed.

The evening offers a varied dance program: polonaise, waltz, pas de gras, boulanger, grand rond.
