Personal exhibition of Sergey Zhgilyov
About exhibition
The gallery is hosting a solo exhibition by a contemporary graphic artist from Irkutsk. He works in an expressive manner while retaining the fundamentals of the academic tradition, which is reflected in his choice of materials: watercolor, gouache, coated paper, and pencils. In his monochrome black-and-white graphics, the artist conveys his ideas and personal philosophy, combining recognizable imagery with abstraction. For the first time, the exhibition presents a series of experimental graphics created by the artist in 2025. The works intertwine elements of chance and intuition: reactions to everyday events, childhood memories, and subconscious associations. The exhibition takes place in the permanent exhibition hall dedicated to the art of Dashi Namdakov. The imagery of the acclaimed sculptor has partly inspired Sergey Zhgilyov: by accurately capturing features of ancient beliefs and interpreting local legends, he creates his own visual language.
