Chagodoshchensky Museum of History and Folk Culture

About museum

Chagodoshchensky Museum of History and Folk Culture opened relatively recently in the center of the urban-type settlement of Chagoda in Vologda Oblast. It is housed in a building designed by N. A. Trotsky, and during the Great Patriotic War an evacuation hospital was located here. The museum features seven permanent exhibitions dedicated to the local history, household items, nature, industry and agriculture, public education and culture, and defenders of the Fatherland. There is also an exhibition hall that hosts exhibitions of various kinds. The museum's holdings consist of 13 collections, including 'Glass', 'Archaeology', 'Painting', 'Numismatics', and 'Documents'. Museum staff collect and study glassware, document the history of glass production in the Chagoda region, and organize annual glass exhibitions in honor of Glassmakers' Day.
