About museum

In 1912 a Museum of Nature and History was founded in the Vytegra area as a supplement to the natural history cabinet of the Vytegra Realschule. On August 19, 1918 the museum was recognized as an independent institution and received its own premises.

Collection of icon painting of the 16th–18th centuries and paintings - 751 inventory items. Collection of manuscripts and early printed books - 150 inventory items. Fauna collection - 100 inventory items. Collection of photographs, books and personal belongings of the poet N. Klyuev. Numismatics collection. Ethnography collection. Collection of photographs and documents on the Mariinsky and Volga–Baltic Canals.
