Military-Historical Museum of Oryol
About museum
On August 5, 1983, the Military-Historical Museum was opened, dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the liberation of the city of Oryol from the Nazi invaders. The museum's exhibition includes documents, photographs, press materials, as well as personal items and weapons from the Great Patriotic War belonging to participants in the liberation of Oryol Oblast. A howitzer and a T-70 tank are installed at the museum entrance. Two dioramas by the well-known artist Andrey Kurnakov occupy a central place. One of them is devoted to the breakthrough of the German defenses in 1943, and the other to the battle near Kromy during the Civil War. The museum has become a true monument to the history and heroism of the soldiers of the Great Patriotic War.
