Military-Historical Museum 'Nameless Height'
About museum
The Kaluga United Local History Museum is represented by a military-historical branch dedicated to the liberation of the Kuybyshevsky District from the Nazi invaders. In September 1943 the troops of the 49th, 10th and 50th Armies began the liberation of 52 settlements; the enemy put up strong resistance. On September 13, Junior Lieutenant E. I. Poroshin and 18 Siberian volunteers successfully broke through the enemy lines and captured the important height 224.1. The Siberians proved far stronger than the German command had expected and destroyed more than a hundred Nazis. However, they too fell bravely, and two survived — Konstantin Vlasov and Gerasim Lapin. The memory of the heroic action is firmly preserved on Nameless Height: here there is a monument to the fallen soldiers, a three-tier dugout, a guest house and a museum.
