Tarnogsky Museum of Traditional Folk Culture
About museum
The Tarnogsky Museum of Traditional Folk Culture was opened on October 10, 1970. It is located in three buildings. The main building, constructed in 1927, houses the museum's primary exhibition. Here visitors can learn about the traditional rites and customs of the northern peasant, women's traditional crafts, agriculture, flax cultivation, handicrafts, the fauna and flora of the Tarnogsky District, and traditional natural resource use. The building also hosts themed exhibitions. In another building — the A. A. Ugryumov House-Museum, built in 1929 — the exhibition tells the genealogy of the Ugryumov family, the life and activities of A. A. Ugryumov, and the history of public education in Kokshenga. The third building — the museum's ethnographic department — is located in the village of Zarechye and offers visitors an overview of Kokshenga's shrines, open collections, and an exhibition hall. The museum provides general and thematic tours, museum lessons and classes, creative workshops, and animation programs.
