Tabunsky District Local History Museum
About museum
It has been in continuous operation since February 26, 1988, and is engaged in preserving and developing the museum collection, which consists of more than 3,700 items, of which 3,010 are displayed in the exhibitions and are part of the museum's main holdings. The creation of this museum began in September 1981 and was supported by the entire district; the exhibition plan was approved by T. Varaksina, head of the Department of History of Soviet Society at the Altai State Museum of Local Lore. The museum presents exhibitions dedicated to the pre-revolutionary period; the transformation of the village in the 1920s–1930s; the district during the war years; the Virgin Lands campaign; agriculture; the socio-cultural development of the district; as well as household items, invaluable documents, letters, memoirs of distinguished local professionals, exhibitions on the history of the district's enterprises, displays of folk craftsmen's work, and puppet theater performances. Thus, the Tabunsky District Local History Museum is a non-profit institution aimed at preserving and developing the local history collection.
