About museum
The museum hosts local-history tours and various events. The Center for Historical and Local Studies draws attention to the cultural and historical continuity of our district. On December 20, 1989, the Center for Historical and Local Studies was established at a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Sorokinsky District Council of People's Deputies of the Tyumen Region. The first director was A. D. Krivykh. Materials and documents were placed in the museum, as well as recollections of participants in the Great Patriotic War (World War II) and historical relics of the district's residents that had been collected and kept in the history classroom of Sorokinskaya Secondary School No. 1. A. D. Krivykh and V. N. Redikul'tseva took part in the creation of the museum. The center is located in the wooden building of the former office of the grain reception point. The museum features three halls: historical chronicle, everyday life and crafts, and the history of the district. The museum's collection comprises 1,500 items. The museum displays exhibits by artists A. A. Toporkova, S. N. Myshkina, I. S. Sokolova, and A. Ponomarenko. Residents donate cherished personal items and family heirlooms to the museum.
