About museum

In 1962, a budgetary cultural institution of the Sokolsky district — the 'Local History Museum of the Sokolsky District' — was established. In 1993 it was reorganized into the Sokolsk City Historical and Local History Museum, and in 2006 it was reorganized into a district municipal institution with a branch, the 'Kadnikov Local History Museum'. Today the Sokolsky Museum houses more than 20,000 items of material culture, including peasant household items, clothing, wood and metal products, as well as collections of numismatics and phaleristics.
