Sokolsky People's Local History Museum
About museum
\r\nThe uniqueness and distinctiveness of the history of the Sokolsky district calls for its study and preservation. In this connection, in 1971 a local history museum was opened in the settlement of Sokolskoye, chaired by the library director Anna Fyodorovna Rodina. In 1995 museum activities were revived and the museum was moved to a wooden house on Rabochaya Street. For its active work in researching, preserving and promoting the historical heritage, and in reviving the spiritual and cultural traditions of the district, the museum was granted the status of a people's (folk) museum. The museum currently houses exhibits on ethnography, archaeology and paleontology, as well as manuscripts and early printed books and photo collections. At the end of 2017 a separate branch of the Sokolsky People's Local History Museum was opened. At present the museum's collection includes 1,985 museum items and 1,958 scientific and auxiliary items. The museum hosts exhibitions, themed events, tours, classes and consultations. More than 3,000 people visit the museum annually.
