North Caucasus Branch of the State Center for Contemporary Art
About museum
The State Center for Contemporary Art (SCCA) was established by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation in 1992. Its mission is to develop contemporary Russian art in an international context and to create programs and projects in the fields of contemporary art, architecture, and design. In 2010 the North Caucasus Branch of the SCCA was opened; it is the only state institution in the region working in the field of contemporary culture. The main task of the North Caucasus Branch is to create a common platform that will enable the North Caucasus to become a full part of the contemporary global artistic process. To achieve this, various areas of activity will be employed: promotion and support of Caucasian culture in Russia and abroad; presentation of leading artists at major international venues; research and educational activities; publishing; and a dynamic exhibition program.
