People's Local History Museum, Podgorensky (urban-type settlement)
About museum
The museum was opened on January 16, 1983, on the 40th anniversary of the liberation of the Podgorensky district from the Nazi invaders.
\r\n
\r\nThe museum has four halls: the Old Hall, the Pre-war Period Hall, the Hall of Military Glory, and the Modern Hall. The museum organizes exhibitions, displays, and tours for school students and visitors to the district, and also holds themed events on commemorative dates.
\r\n
\r\nThe Old Hall contains materials that tell about the lives of the region's residents from the pre-revolutionary period.
\r\n
\r\nIn the exhibitions of the Pre-war Hall, considerable attention is given to the history of the founding and operation of the Podgorensky Cement Plant.
\r\n
\r\nIn the Hall of Military Glory, visitors are shown photographic materials about local people — Heroes of the Soviet Union; about I. V. Kovalev — Doctor of Military Sciences, Lieutenant General of the Technical Service, Minister of Railways during the Great Patriotic War; about K. A. Miloradova — a partisan and comrade-in-arms of Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya.
\r\n
\r\nIn the Modern Hall there are exhibits on the region's natural resources; the Greco-Roman wrestling achievements of young athletes — pupils of the district's children's and youth sports school; the district's honored individuals; the works of local poets and writers; and people who bring fame to their native land through labor feats, scientific achievements, and talent.
