About museum

Municipal Budgetary Cultural Institution 'Saraevsky District Local History Museum' was established in 2010 at the initiative of the administration of Saraevsky District and the district's residents. The museum opened its doors to visitors on September 19, 2012. It is located in the village of Bolshie Mozhary, in a picturesque location on the grounds of the former estate of landowner D.L. Kormilitsin. The estate covers 2.5 hectares and is planted with centuries-old firs and linden trees. The building was constructed in the 1960s for the local school; the premises have since been renovated and outfitted as museum halls.
