About museum
In 1980, a school museum was opened in the village of Kimiltey, on the basis of which the district historical and local history museum was established. In 2006 it was moved to a separate wooden building and contains about 10,000 exhibits. Today the museum is an important cultural center of the district and promotes the historical and cultural monuments of the Ziminsky District. Over the past three years attendance has increased significantly. The museum hosts cultural events, themed tours, exhibitions and projects such as "Russian Stove Festival", "Ritual Wedding", "Mini Museum on Wheels", the district local history Olympiad, museum quests and others.
