Plavsk District Local History Museum "Center of the Gagarin Princes" on Kommunarov Street

On July 1, 1993, a local history museum was opened in Plavsk. It is located in the historical and cultural monument building "Grachyov House, 1912" at 3 Kalinina Street. On May 15, 2021, the museum expanded to two buildings, the second of which is located at 68 Kommunarov Street. Two exhibitions have been created in the "Center of the Gagarin Princes." The first introduces visitors to the history of the Gagarin princely family; the second is a reconstructed classroom of the Sergiev Women's Diocesan School and the pupils' sleeping room. In addition, the museum now has an exhibition hall that features an exhibition of works by artist D. V. Sokolov in the hyperrealism style. It has been very popular with local residents, especially young people.
