The Tretyakov Gallery on Krymsky Val houses Russia's only permanent exhibition of Russian art of the twentieth century. It presents the works of the masters of the Russian avant-garde at the beginning of the century, socialist realism, artists of the "harsh style", as well as representatives of the "underground". The exhibition is rounded off by a collection of works from the 1980s and 1990s, which is constantly being updated with new works. In addition, the Gallery regularly hosts exhibitions of classical and modern art, domestic and foreign masters. Since 2002, a Children's creative workshop has been operating here, where children can get acquainted with the experimental ideas of twentieth-century artists.
