The Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin is a unique military-engineering structure of the 16th century that still preserves its historic fortress to this day. Inside the kremlin there are 13 towers arranged in the form of an irregular polygon. All approaches to the walls were covered by crossfire from the towers. The gates were protected by a complex defense system. The kremlin was built to protect Russia's eastern borders and has never fallen under enemy attack. It contains historical exhibitions as well as exhibitions dedicated to the feat of Kuzma Minin and popular unity. Eight exhibitions can be visited in the kremlin towers. The Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin is a monument of Russian history that attracts many tourists and historians. It remains a source of pride and memory for the people of Nizhny Novgorod.
