Nizhnevartovsk Local History Museum offers visitors themed exhibitions dedicated to the nature, history and culture of the city and region. The exhibition "In the Lands of Forests and Swamps" presents museum collections and remains of ancient animals, while the exhibition "From the Vakh to the Agan" features complexes of traditional dwellings and household items, hunting and fishing equipment, as well as summer and winter clothing and footwear. A special place is occupied by the exhibition dedicated to the 45th anniversary of the city of Nizhnevartovsk — "From Village to City. The History of the Region in the 18th–20th Centuries". It acquaints visitors with the city's history from the Vartov yurts to the discovery of the Samotlor oil field and the construction of the city. The exhibition displays household items, documents, photographs, maps and other materials that allow visitors to immerse themselves in the history of Nizhnevartovsk.
