Nizhnesaldinsky Local History Museum named after A.N. Antsiferov
About museum
The local history museum of the Nizhnyaya Salda urban district is located in an old brick building built in 1903 by one of the wealthiest local merchants — Vasily Gavrilovich Shubtsev. The museum was founded in the year of the 200th anniversary of the Nizhnesaldinsky Metallurgical Plant — on March 3, 1960 the Executive Committee of the Nizhnesaldinsky City Council adopted decision No. 41, which stated: "Taking into account the requests and demands of the working people for the organization of a local history museum in the town of Nizhnyaya Salda, to create a museum council." From 1960 to 1979 it operated as a people's museum, with collections totaling about 2,475 exhibits. In 1979 the Nizhnesaldinsky museum became part of the Nizhny Tagil Local History Museum as a branch. Currently the Nizhnesaldinsky Local History Museum bears the name of its first director A.N. Antsiferov and is an independent museum within the Nizhnyaya Salda urban district. The museum currently hosts permanent exhibitions: "A Corner of the Shubtsev Merchant House", "Founders of the Nizhnesaldinsky Museum: A.N. Antsiferov and his Associates", an exhibition of graphic works by the distinctive Salda artist S.S. Vinokurov, and the exhibition "In the Whirlwinds of the Hostile Civil War."
