Nenets Local History Museum
About museum
On September 6, 1934, the Nenets Local History Museum was opened to visitors. For a long time the museum moved from place to place and did not have its own premises. In February 2009 it received a dedicated building that allowed the preservation and safeguarding of the museum collections. It included separate storage rooms, a temperature and humidity control system, restoration workshops, disinfection and freezer chambers, and a modern security and fire suppression system. The total exhibition area is 1,272 sq. m. Today the museum houses more than 40,000 exhibits that vividly and in detail tell the history of the region and the life and culture of the Nenets, Komi and Russians.
