Forest School Museum Complex
About museum
The Forest School museum complex was established in 2017. It includes the Forester's Cottage, a nursery of coniferous and deciduous trees, and a petting zoo. The Forester's Cottage features museum exhibits and information panels on the history of the Shipovoy Forest, along with a map of the forest area. In the central room you can see household items and hunting gear from the 17th–19th centuries, natural materials, and mummified insects. The third room is a reconstruction of peasant life from the 18th to the early 20th centuries, with a Russian stove, a bed, a cradle, and various household items. The other half of the room contains craft workshops where visitors can learn about traditional Russian costume and crafts. The petting zoo is home to goats and rabbits. An 800-meter ecological trail runs through the forest, along which you can see boundary posts, the oldest oaks and the 'ideal' oak, and learn about the forest's inhabitants and ant hills.
