About museum
The A. A. Tarkovsky Museum is a place where you can feel the spirit of the time in which the master of cinema was born.
Andrei Arsenyevich Tarkovsky was a renowned film director and master of cinema who came from the small Volga town of Yuryevets. In 1996 a museum center dedicated to A. Tarkovsky was opened in Yuryevets in a building erected in the early 20th century. It features two architectural compositions — a well and the wall of a ruined church — and offers four exhibition halls: 'The Artist's World', 'Family History', 'Communal Apartment' and 'Communal Kitchen'. Special attention is drawn to the 'Communal Apartment' hall, restored based on the recollections of Andrei's sister. The museum also presents photographs, documents and other exhibits related to A. Tarkovsky's work. This place allows visitors to sense the spirit of the time when the master of cinema was born.
