Zelenograd Museum is a unique local history museum in the capital; it was opened in 1969 at the initiative of the city community in young Zelenograd, a city of modern science and advanced ideas. The museum became a place for preserving the memory of Zelenograd's past and the heroic events of 1941. In 1992 it was granted the status of a state museum. Today it collects and preserves historical artifacts, and also carries out educational and research activities, organizing exhibitions of Zelenograd artists, photographers, and decorative and applied arts. Zelenograd Museum is an integral part of the district's history; it helps people understand and appreciate the history of their native place.
