Russian Dessert Museum

About museum

In 2014 in the town of Zvenigorod, artist Tatyana Feina opened the Museum of Russian Dessert, dedicated to the history of national culture related to Russian desserts. It features a collection of peasant kitchen utensils, implements and tableware from the USSR. During tours, visitors can learn about the variety of Russian peasant desserts from the 9th century to the early 20th century, about the history of Russian bread, pies, pryaniki (spice cookies), pastila (traditional fruit confection), and about malt and malting. Workshops are also held here on painting pryaniki and modeling sugar flowers. The museum bakes in a traditional Russian oven every day; guests can learn about the history and construction of the stove, and also try the role of a worker in an old baranki bakery. Here one can learn about the hard work of bakers and other vanished professions.
