Mariinsk City History Museum
About museum
The Mariinsk City History Museum is located in a two-storey stone building from the early 20th century on Lenina Street (formerly Bolshaya Moskovskaya), a regional architectural monument. Prior to the Revolution, the building belonged to Maria Yankelovna Gurevich; it housed watchmaking and jewelry workshops. In 1902, L. D. Preysman's printing house — the first in Kuzbass — opened in the building. The museum's exhibitions include: 'Moscow–Irkutsk Route. The Road of Tears and Eternal Hustle', 'Gold Rush', 'Tavern on Bolshaya Moskovskaya', 'Merchant's Parlor', 'Repressions of the 1930s–1950s', 'Mariinsk during the Great Patriotic War', 'County Town Architecture'. On the museum's first floor there is a museum shop offering products by local artisans and producers (birch bark items, Ivan tea, souvenirs, printed materials, etc.). The museum provides insight into Mariinsk's history, showcases architectural monuments, and offers souvenirs and gifts for purchase.
