Tatneft Oil Museum, Leninogorsk
About museum
The Oil Museum — the first museum of its kind in the USSR — was opened on October 1, 1968 in Leninogorsk, where oil production in Tatarstan began. It presents the history of oil exploration in the republic, the story of the first discoveries and achievements, the enthusiasm of the founders of the USSR's largest oil base, and the stages of technological development. Here you can see artifacts, rare documents, a chronicle of events, and also learn about the basics of natural sciences and technologies. A distinctive feature of the museum is its 'Golden Chronicle', which serves as an example of selfless labor and creative accomplishment.
