About museum
The Vasily Belov Memorial Museum-Apartment is a unique place dedicated to the great Russian writer Vasily Ivanovich Belov (1932–2012). He was one of the founders of "village prose" and entered the treasury of modern national literature. The museum was opened on October 21, 2015 in Vologda, where Vasily lived with his family from 1987. The exhibition includes almost one and a half thousand items, including authentic belongings of the writer and his family, as well as gifts from admirers of his talent. The museum preserves the study interior of Vasily Ivanovich, his writing desk, a personal library of four thousand volumes, and a collection of visual art including works by the writer. You can also see the rooms of Vasily Belov's wife and daughter. The apartment became a center of the city's public, cultural and artistic life: writers, artists, composers, politicians and clergy visited here. Every item in this apartment has its own story connected with the time of Vasily Belov's life.
