About museum
The Historical and Ethnographic Museum of Merchant Life is located in the estate of the Epifan townspeople. It comprises a residential house with a parlor, bedroom and study (built in 1913), a shop with a cellar, outbuildings, a vegetable garden and a bathhouse. All these components make the museum complex unified and allow visitors to see the world of old Russia. The first museum in Epifan was opened as early as 1886. It included historical and ethnographic collections and materials that described in detail the area of Epifan and the Kulikovo Field. In 1998 the museum was transferred to the State Museum-Reserve and on September 21 of the same year was opened to visitors.
