The Novocheboksarsk Museum of Local Lore and History is located in the city center in a newly constructed building. It opened in 2008, and in 2011 the museum was merged with the art museum and became the Historical and Art Complex. The museum houses over 5,000 items in its collection, including archaeological and natural science exhibits, tools, household items and ethnographic artifacts. Particularly important are the paleontological and archaeological collections featured in the permanent exhibition. Here you can learn about the region's development from the origin of life to the appearance of humans, as well as about the everyday life of a Chuvash household and the history of Novocheboksarsk's development. The museum holds temporary exhibitions, cultural and educational events, lectures, tours and workshops. The museum appeals to both children and adults.
